The Big Five Marathon The Big Five Marathon® in South Africa is to be held among the wildlife of the African savannah. Runners from all over the world will meet in one of the most spectacular "Big Five" game reserves in Africa. In these magnificent surroundings, one can combine exciting game drives with a challenging marathon route going right through the habitat of the most famous African game: Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard. No fences, no rivers, nothing at all separates the runners from the African wildlife. |

| Take the trip to incredible Jordan and the unique ciy of Petra for a fantastic marathon adventure. Petra, an ancient city carved in the sandstone mountains, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was elected as one of the ‘New 7 Wonders of the World’ in 2007. Runners can look forward to astonishing sights and a challenging course through a unique landscape. Runners Registration Form Itinerary | Prices Petra Marathon starts early in the morning to avoid too much running in the afternoon heat. From the Visitors Centre all runners walk the 1.2 kilometers through the Siq to the start line in front of the Treasury. Full marathon and ultra half marathon starts together. All runners who complete the marathon or ultra half marathon within the time limit will receive a medal. Do not forget that this is first and foremost an adventure. We are far away from the homely comforts and this makes it impossible to offer services at the same high level as usually provided in city marathons. |
